i just had to share this little video with you all - hopefully it will bring a little humour to your day, as it did for us :)
this was the first time eamon had managed to climb into his toy box - and i couldn't resist the temptation to record it in some way - quickly grabbed the point and shoot and started filming.
and then...oops! poor little fella. such a coincidence that i happened to be filming at the time.
i showed ben after he got home from hospital - the laughing hurt so much he made me promise not to show him again for a long time. you see these kinds of vids on funniest home videos all the time but its SO much funnier when its your own kid :)

days with daddy
for the last two weeks, eamon's poor daddy has been recovering from his hernia op, so he has been home from work and hanging about with the cool people of the family (a.k.a eamon + i).
although ben's recovery was a little more painful than he expected, he did manage some outings with us and it was also an opportunity to spend some quality time with his little boy. eamon LOVED all the attention and will be sad to see him go back to work this week! play-times were excellent, especially one's like this at the park. eamon could practice his walking (and falling over) skills and have free access to his daddy all at the same time!
needless to day, eamon was exhausted by the end of our 'holiday' with dad (which co-incided nicely with easter)...so much so that he's wound up with a nasty cold. poor little fella :)

walking !
i thought it was about time to post some more photos of the little man, especially now since he's ... walking!
hooray! since taking his first steps some weeks ago, eamon has been a little wary of taking this walking thing any further... but in the last few days he's finally finished procrastinating and, at 14 and a half months, he is truly off and running! and it is exactly as they say - once they start there's no stopping them!
we are absolutely loving watching our little munchkin get around on two legs and still can't believe its really happening :)
and, as you can see, eamon is pretty much as excited about it as we are!

afternoon tea
i love afternoon tea with the girlies on a saturday afternoon.
i think sarah does too!
she treated us to a rather fine one yesterday and it was just terrific to be able to take a break from the mayhem at home and catch up with everyone again.
AND, not to mention, start planning our next faith in action weekend! can't wait.

little buddies
babies are great little buddies to have around.
they're a buddy for their mates (levi)
a buddy for their mum
a buddy for their mum's friends
and a buddy for the lonely garden tree that needed watering (i'm not joking!)
just love it :)
today marks my 100th post ! hooray !
thankyou for your loyalty over the last one hundred, even though at times they were few and far between!
cheers to sharing another happy one hundred with you :)

a surprise !
by now most of you would have heard about the amazing surprise birthday party that darling ed organised for his lovely christine about two weeks ago. well here are the details!
it all started with an inconspicious looking envelope which mysteriously appeared in our car one sunday afternoon about two weeks before, which held an invitation designed by the ever-talented mandy.
the invitation promised a sumptious dinner at the borst's pateena road residence to surprise christine for the 10th anniversary of her 21st birthday!
while ed was declining offers for help, we all wondered how on earth he was going to pull this off without christine clueing in. i had my suspicions that a little someone was going to help but we just had to wait and see.
by the saturday afternoon of the party we'd discovered that indeed, mandy had arrived from WA to distract christine for day so that ed could get it all together! isn't this what dream marriages are made of? ed, you are amazing!
anyway, back to the details...
when we arrived we were greeted by ed (very busy in the kitchen at this stage) and directed to hang out in/near the barn until christine arrived. with a few nibbles and a drink or two, we anticipated the arrival of christine and mandy.
before long, they arrived - christine's reaction was, of course, unforgettable! after a few minutes of composing herself in the car, she came out to say hello to all the sharply dressed family and friends who had made themselves at home in her backyard :) it was priceless.
now the party could really begin!
guests moved inside the barn where there was a beautifully set long table, above which a gorgeous lace and tulle chandelier hung from the barn roof. it was all perfectly suited to christine's taste, of course, and looked nothing like the old barn it usually is. can you believe ed did all this?
while we were all busy admiring the barn's remarkable transformation, entree was served!
in-between courses we went out to admire the sunset over the pretty pateena road fields...
ed wowed us with a delicious serve of pork belly for main course. a few of us mentioned we felt like we were in an instant restaurant of my kitchen rules! (just far better)
time for present-giving, lots of laughs and genuine dingemanse silliness!
an absolutely gorgeous chocolate meringue for dessert ended the evening on a high sweet note!
thanks so much ed, for all your hard work in achieving this truly fantastic party!
and thankyou christine for being such a good sport and sharing this incredible evening with us :) xx

life is a crayola card...
no one's ever too young to begin expressing their creative talent! so we set out to let those talents shine!
last week i put eamon in front of a blank sheet of paper with some crayons to see what he could come up with... although the results were certainly no glover prize winner, i, as his mum, was very impressed with his work as a crayola first-timer. a few random dots, lines, a little crayon licking and paper ripping for effect, and the job was done!
eamon, before you know if you'll be joining the ranks of auntie charlene and her little crayola card venture :)
anyway, the important thing was we all had fun. and i just loved the way his chubby little hands held awkwardly on to the crayons...
eamon's first drawings hang proudly in the house of course - so cute!

zucchini mad
over at our place we are all but zucchini'd out - i guess its that time of the year when home grown zucchini's are in abundance and everyone is trying to do the same thing - use them up in as many ways as possible!
the one we have here is a lighter green variety but still tastes exactly like regular zucchini. we are very sure about that.
if you have any bright ideas about what else you can do with this monster vegetable (apart from muffins, bread, quiche, fritters) i'd love it if you shared :)
